Established in 1905 to honor the wishes of Jeannie Warren Paine’s bequest to First Parish in Cambridge, the Paine Fund responded mainly to financial distress. Paine expanded its work to include a wide array of social services, with the goal of ensuring that Cambridge residents had what they needed to thrive. The Paine Fund became “Paine Social Services” in 1977 to more accurately reflect the agency’s work. In 2007, the agency was re-named “Paine Senior Services” to more clearly identify the people we serve. Though much has changed since 1905, Paine Senior Services’ commitment to service remains the same with a focus on developing strong relationships with those we serve so that they can make decisions about their lives and remain as independent as possible.
